Sometimes when it comes to picking a Captain in FPL we can overthink things. The amount of in depth analysis we do each week coincides with a Marine Biologist trying to locate the Titanic without a radar.
You think you have the obvious answer, but then that little bit of doubt tends to creep over you, questions such as, what if this is my time to be different and not follow the crowd. These thought processes usually get the best of people, especially when you keep trying to convince yourself it’s the right path to follow, as you move ever closer to the deadline.
This week there seems to be an obvious answer, the Viking God by the name of Erling Haaland! He plays Ipswich this week at the Etihad and has scored 8 goals in the last 5 EPL games. Ipswich have conceded a whopping 15 goals in their last 6 EPL games with their previous 2 fixtures against Man City seeing drubbings of 6-0 and 4-1.
The only caveat for me is not to forget how well Ipswich played last week, they’re still a side to be reckoned with, especially after City’s mid-week UCL loss to PSG. They should be more than confident in their ability, especially after last week’s comeback against Fulham, although this may be a step too far in terms of a step up in quality and it doesn’t change my decision.
The last meeting at the Etihad saw Haaland plough through the Tractor Boys with a hat-trick and a Man of the Match performance!! With this in mind, all of the stars are seemingly aligning in the right direction for Haaland to repay the FPL faithful with a humongous monster haul!
My Captain for Gameweek 6 is as obvious as cheese on chips – Erling Haaland.
